Bluetongue restrictions to be introduced in Scotland as animal movement is curbed
Scotland is introducing temporary livestock movement restrictions in Dumfries and Galloway following the spread of bluetongue virus, which has affected seven sheep and 13 cattle across five farms. Sheep, cattle and goats will require licences for movements in the restriction zone, while animals travelling there from elsewhere in Scotland must return the same day. From September 10, susceptible livestock entering Scotland from other parts of the UK will require vaccination.
