Local golfers shine at Canadian Mid-Am
Owen Seal and Traynor Turkiewicz, both members of Brantford Golf and Country Club, reached the cut at the 2026 Canadian Men’s Mid-Amateur Golf Championship after two even-par rounds. Seal, a 27-year-old electrician who only began seriously pursuing competitive golf a few years ago, entered as a late alternate and continued his rapid improvement from an eight-handicap to a scratch golfer. Turkiewicz, a six-time club champion and former Western University standout, also advanced despite a late double bogey. Fellow BGCC members Nate Lockey and Ben Turnbull missed the cut, although Lockey improved from 76 to 74 and Turnbull showed flashes of form while returning to competitive play. The championship continues with Seal and Turkiewicz competing in the final two rounds at the Brantford Golf and Country Club.
