Next England Test coach: Flower, Trott & Langer - contenders to replace Brendon McCullum
England is preparing to appoint a new Test head coach following Brendon McCullum’s dismissal after a poor run of results, with ECB chief executive Richard Gould indicating a shortlist of six to ten candidates. The board aims to have a replacement in place before the August Test series against Pakistan but may use an interim coach if necessary. Leading contenders include Andy Flower, Jonathan Trott and Justin Langer, alongside several other experienced figures such as Andrew Flintoff, Richard Dawson, Gareth Batty, Darren Lehmann and Ryan Campbell. The chosen coach will contribute to selecting a new captain and work alongside McCullum, who remains in charge of the white‑ball side.
