Humiliated bride left stranded at altar without wheelchair ramp to reach husband
Jenni Pettican, a wheelchair user with chronic illnesses, says staff at Newland Hall failed to place the ramp needed for her to reach her husband at their May 2026 wedding, leaving family members to install it in front of guests. She also alleges that the venue initially sought a higher deposit to keep step-free access available during the reception. Pettican filed a complaint and says the venue failed to take responsibility or apologise, while Newland Hall's new owners, who took over after the wedding, said they were not involved but apologised for the distress caused and promised an accessibility assessment, revised procedures and disability-awareness training.
