The third annual Kerry Sweeney Memorial Trophy at Skelmorlie Bowling Club brought together 28 bowlers, non-bowlers and juniors to honour Kerry Sweeney, who died from cancer in 2022 aged 54. Organised with the support of her family and the local community, the event featured bowls, food and a raffle and raised £1,000 for Ardgowan Hospice. Her daughter Jaclyn Thompson described Kerry’s caring nature and the family’s long-standing connection to the club, while the event organisers said the day celebrated Kerry in a way she would have loved.

Kevin Keegan, former England captain and two‑time European Footballer of the Year, has died at 75 following a cancer battle. He maintained strong ties to Inverkip, where he owned a marina apartment and spent significant time in the mid‑2000s. Local residents and business owners recalled him as a friendly and down‑to‑earth presence. While living in Scotland, he declined a coaching role at Heart of Midlothian and focused on the Soccer Circus youth training initiative. His death prompted reflection on his extensive club and national career and his positive relationships within the Clyde community.
