An inquest detailed how Kelly Faiers died from a combination of alcohol and sleeping tablets at the home of her partner, convicted sex offender Richard Scatchard, who had a history of drugging and assaulting women. Colleagues reported disturbing messages and behaviour, including his desire for sexual activity while she was unconscious. Toxicology confirmed high alcohol levels and excess sleeping tablets but could not determine whether the tablets were taken willingly. Empty medication packets were found at the scene, and messages revealed Scatchard’s explicit and controlling expectations. Scatchard later disappeared and was found dead, and the inquest continues.
