An inquest heard that Kelly Faiers died from the combined effects of alcohol and sleeping tablets at the home of her partner, convicted sex offender Richard Scatchard. Evidence detailed his history of drugging and sexually assaulting women, as well as messages indicating sexual coercion and fantasies involving Faiers being unconscious. Colleagues described concerns about his controlling behaviour and disturbing communications. Toxicology could not determine whether the tablets were taken willingly, leaving open the possibility of spiking. A murder inquiry was launched after Scatchard’s criminal past came to light, and the inquest continues.
