Teen found with £46,000 worth of heroin walks free from court
Nineteen-year-old Bailey Bartlett was sentenced at Plymouth Crown Court after police found him with cocaine, cannabis, cash, a meat cleaver and mobile phones, followed by a home search that uncovered 69.34g of crack cocaine and 460g of heroin valued at about £46,000. The court heard he had been drawn into dealing because of a cannabis debt, cognitive difficulties and coercion from people higher up the drug chain. Judge Robert Linford imposed a three-year detention sentence suspended for two years, along with rehabilitation, mental-health treatment and 180 hours of unpaid work, warning that any breach could lead to immediate detention.

Two sets of Travellers set up camp on fields in Plymouth
Two unauthorised Traveller encampments have been established at Stamford Lane in Jennycliff and Prince Rock Playing Fields in Plymstock, prompting complaints from residents. Plymouth City Council has visited both sites, plans to issue 24-hour notices to quit, and will provide bins and toilets; court action may follow if the Prince Rock group remains after the notice expires. The article explains that councils generally need court orders to remove groups from public land, while police powers are limited to cases involving disorder, antisocial behaviour or crime. Plymouth’s proposed temporary stopping sites have not progressed because of opposition, affordability concerns and difficulty finding a suitable location.
