Energy drinks set to be banned in England for under 16s
England will ban the sale of high‑caffeine energy drinks to under‑16s starting in April 2027 to address concerns about anxiety, poor sleep and reduced concentration among children. The policy, backed by teaching unions and the Department of Health and Social Care, will require retailers to enforce age restrictions and could result in fines for violations. The British Soft Drinks Association opposes the measure, arguing existing voluntary practices already limit youth access and that most caffeine consumed by minors comes from other sources. The devolved nations are also considering similar bans.
