Experts advise avoiding sitting, parking or picnicking beneath trees with cracked soil, scorched or browning leaves, drooping limbs or other warning signs. More than half of England was reported to be in drought, parts of Wales had also entered drought, and eastern Scotland was experiencing significant water scarcity. Experts additionally called for greater tree cover, wetland restoration and measures to retain water in parks to reduce future drought and flooding risks.
