Decision on plans for 235 homes in Cam
Stroud District Council’s development control committee approved outline permission, by six votes to two with one abstention, for Robert Hitchins Limited to build 235 homes on nearly 24 acres west of the A4135 at Draycott in Cam. The scheme forms part of a planned 1,000-home expansion, but parish representatives, residents and councillors raised concerns about congestion, dangerous roads, ecology, construction impacts and insufficient infrastructure, particularly at the Box Road junction and a proposed Goldfinch Edge roundabout. Officers said access details would be addressed later through reserved matters, while developer contributions were requested for services including GP surgeries and secondary schools.
