A&K Gateshead Limited is seeking approval to build up to 100 homes on more than 12 acres off Tewkesbury Road in Twigworth, near Gloucester. Residents and the Twigworth and Down Hatherley parish councils oppose the plans, warning that existing sewer networks and pumping stations already overflow during heavy rain and that additional homes could worsen sewage flooding, pollution and traffic. The developer says the scheme would meet local housing needs and includes drainage basins, swales and sustainable urban drainage systems, while most of the site is in the lowest flood-risk zone. Tewkesbury Borough Council is expected to consider the application by October 6, 2026.
