Parking firm blasted as 'vultures' after fining man battling cancer
Steve Johnson, a 69-year-old disabled man receiving life-prolonging cancer treatment at Cheltenham General Hospital, was issued a £40 parking charge by Saba after parking on double yellow lines when he could not find a space. Despite an appeal supported by his oncologist, debt collectors are pursuing him for £150. Johnson disputes the adequacy of the signage and says leaving the hospital car park was not a realistic option. His sister condemned Saba, while MP Cameron Thomas asked Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to clarify how its contractor is overseen. The trust apologized, said accessibility and reasonable adjustments are important, and confirmed it is reviewing the case.
