UK heatwave amber alert for Cambridgeshire as temperatures soar to mid-30s
Most of England, including Cambridgeshire, is under amber heat-health alerts from Tuesday through Friday as temperatures are forecast to reach the mid-30s, peaking on Thursday. The heatwave is worsening drought conditions, with hosepipe bans affecting 23 million people, low rivers and reservoirs, crop and livestock feed concerns, and numerous wildfires. Limited rainfall expected over the weekend will not make up for the accumulated deficit. Authorities are urging people to stay hydrated, avoid the hottest part of the day and check on vulnerable individuals, while the Met Office says conditions are likely to remain dry rather than humid enough to require its highest heat alerts.
