Pretty Little Villages Face 'Sewage Flood' as City 'Swallows Them Up'
Residents and parish councils near Gloucester are opposing plans by A&K Gateshead Limited to build up to 100 homes on more than 12 acres in Twigworth. They say the existing sewerage network and pumping stations already overflow during heavy rain, flooding homes, gardens and public spaces, and that additional development could increase foul flooding and pollution. The developer argues the scheme would provide needed housing and includes drainage basins, swales and sustainable drainage systems to manage flood risk. Tewkesbury Borough Council is expected to consider the application by October 6, 2026.
