Imogen Clark celebrates bronze after tough four-year journey
Part-time swimmer Imogen Clark won bronze in the women's 50m breaststroke at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, sharing third place with Canada's Sophie Angus. The medal follows four difficult years in which Clark worked full-time as an Activity Alliance charity officer while training, coping with injuries and managing epilepsy. Despite competing without dedicated funding because the 50m breaststroke was not previously an Olympic event, Clark continued pursuing sprinting and is now targeting the distance's inclusion at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. She credited her employer and family for their support, while Alfreton swimmer Jacob Whittle finished seventh in the men's 100m freestyle final.
