Chantelle Reid reflects on Glasgow comeback success
Derby boxer Chantelle Reid won silver for Team England in the women's light-middleweight final at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, losing by unanimous decision to India's Arundhati Choudhary. Reid said she was proud of the result despite missing out on gold and intends to use video analysis and further training to continue her comeback from a six-year absence caused by a severe back injury. The medal follows her bronze at the previous year's World Championships and adds to a return that included her Olympic debut in Paris. National Lottery funding is credited with supporting Team England athletes and the Games.

Jake Minshull wins Commonwealth Games 400m hurdles silver
Coventry athlete Jake Minshull won silver in the men's 400m hurdles at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, finishing behind Nigeria's Ezekiel Nathaniel in 48.99 seconds. The 21-year-old University of Birmingham athlete credited his progress to sustained training and is now targeting the European Championships in Birmingham, where he may face former Olympic champion Karsten Warholm. Minshull is also part of the Team England delegation supported by National Lottery funding.

Jon McConnell wins Commonwealth Games boxing gold in Glasgow
Jon McConnell won Northern Ireland’s only boxing gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, defeating Wales’ Orlando Holley-Sotomi by split decision in the men’s 70kg final. McConnell said the victory justified turning down further Love Island auditions. Northern Ireland teammate Kaci Rock won welterweight silver after losing to England’s Sacha Hickey, while Michaela Walsh took featherweight silver after being beaten by India’s reigning world champion Jaismine Lamboria.

Jemima Yeats-Brown wins Commonwealth judo bronze before retiring
Jemima Yeats-Brown won bronze in the women’s under-70kg judo competition at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, overcoming quarter-final defeat through the repechage before beating Moira de Villiers by ippon. The medal was her third Commonwealth bronze across three Games and marked the end of her career. Yeats-Brown said she competed in memory of her sister Jenny, who died of brain cancer in 2022, and expressed pride at finishing her career on a high after also competing at the Olympics and World Championships.

Ben Jefferies wins Commonwealth Games silver after late call-up
Bristol runner Ben Jefferies won silver for Team England in the mixed 4x400m relay at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, just 48 hours after being called up to replace Charlie Dobson. Jefferies ran the opening leg and handed over in second place before Yemi Mary John, Toby Harries and Lina Nielsen secured the medal. Jamaica won gold and Nigeria took bronze. Jefferies will next compete for Great Britain at the European Championships in Birmingham in the individual 400m and relay events.

Adam Tobin misses Commonwealth medal by 0.2 points
Barnstaple gymnast Adam Tobin finished fifth in the men's all-around gymnastics final at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, missing the bronze medal by 0.2 points after falling during his final routine. Scotland's Reuben Ward won gold, Felix Dolci took silver and Australia's Jesse Moore claimed bronze. Tobin was encouraged by teammate Gabriel Langton's return after Langton suffered a serious-looking fall in the team final and was briefly hospitalized. The English team won team silver, while Tobin now turns to the pommel horse, rings and parallel bars individual finals.

Scott Cusack wins Commonwealth Games judo bronze in Glasgow
Scott Cusack won a judo bronze medal for Scotland at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games after recovering from a quarter-final loss through the repechage, defeating India's Karanjit Singh Maan and Australia's Danny Vojnikovich. He matched his father Bill's Commonwealth bronze in front of his family and a home crowd. Edinburgh's Ollie Short lost his bronze-medal bout, while several other Scottish judoka exited in the first round. In bowls, five-time champion Alex Marshall and Paul Foster were eliminated at the group stage, ending Marshall's 16-year medal streak; Neil Fachie consequently moved ahead of him with seven Commonwealth Games gold medals. Garry Brown and Stuart Sloan reached the para-bowls bronze-medal match, while Sophie McGrouther also finished without a medal.
