Harry and Meghan 'decided to go house hunting earlier this year' after loving UK area
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly began considering a UK home earlier in the year, with the Cotswolds near Highgrove identified as a likely location. The area is significant to both, particularly Harry, who grew up nearby, and Meghan, who reportedly lived there with him after their wedding. Reports also claim Meghan toured two schools and that the couple's children have been enrolled in British schools, although these claims have not been independently verified. King Charles III and Prince William were reportedly informed shortly before the news became public, and the couple would remain private, non-working members of the Royal Family.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's 'new UK home town revealed'
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly preparing to move back to the United Kingdom within ten days, with the Cotswolds and the Northamptonshire area near the Spencer family estate identified as possible locations. Their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are said to have been enrolled in British schools. The return would not restore them to working royal roles, but King Charles III reportedly welcomes greater private contact, while Harry's estrangement from Prince William could heighten tensions and raise concerns about rival royal circles. Polling cited in the report indicates broadly negative British public views of both Harry and Meghan, particularly Meghan.

Betfred to close 132 shops and cut over 600 jobs from September
Betfred plans to close 132 betting shops from September, affecting more than 600 jobs. Chief executive Jo Whittaker attributed the decision to higher employer National Insurance contributions, wage inflation, increased gambling taxes and broader economic uncertainty. The closures represent just over 10% of Betfred's UK estate, while employees enter a consultation process. The company has previously warned that rising tax and regulatory costs could threaten its wider shop network.

DWP confirms September deadline for state pensioners born on or before this date
The Department for Work and Pensions is warning pensioners born on or before September 22, 1960, to review their eligibility for the Winter Fuel Payment ahead of September opt‑out deadlines, stressing that payments to individuals earning over £35,000 will be recovered later through the tax system. Pensioners who wish to decline the payment must actively opt out, and the decision will continue in future years unless reversed before March 2027. The alert follows the government’s reversal of a 2024 Labour policy that restricted the benefit, with reinstated payments now subject to income‑based tax recovery. Concerns remain that the arrangement may confuse pensioners and lead to unexpected tax liabilities, prompting officials to urge timely action and updates to personal information that could affect eligibility.
