A hosepipe ban has been introduced in Lyme Regis and parts of Devon due to extreme heat-driven demand overwhelming local water supplies. South West Water reports that recent heatwaves increased daily demand by over five million litres, prompting restrictions on hosepipe use and water-intensive activities. The Met Office confirmed record high temperatures across consecutive months, and the utility is employing measures such as tankering, network rerouting and leak repairs to maintain supply. Restrictions will remain until demand returns to normal levels.
