A 46-year-old lorry driver was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving and causing serious injury through dangerous driving after a three-vehicle crash on the southbound M18 near Doncaster. Two people in an MG, aged 68 and 64, suffered life-threatening injuries, while a 56-year-old Ford passenger sustained minor injuries. The motorway was closed until about 01:00 BST, and South Yorkshire Police appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage.

A man previously charged with causing grievous bodily harm has been charged with murder following the death of 43-year-old Mark Shaw, who was assaulted in Seacroft, Leeds, on 9 July and later died in hospital. Hayden Clarke, 27, is now due to appear at Leeds Crown Court on Thursday after West Yorkshire Police confirmed the upgraded charge.

Police arrested a 21-year-old Bradford man on suspicion of attempted murder after a 28-year-old man was shot in the head in West Bowling and remains in critical condition. A 35-year-old man detained earlier in Ipswich is still in custody, while officers continue searching for 24-year-old Luqman Khan, believed to have travelled to Suffolk. Authorities renewed their appeal for information as the investigation continues.
