Rare turtle Rhossi to be flown 5,000 miles home to Gulf of Mexico
Rhossi, a rare Kemp's ridley sea turtle found barely alive on a Welsh beach in December 2023, has been rehabilitated by Anglesey Sea Zoo and is being flown about 5,000 miles to the Gulf of Mexico. The carefully planned journey involves helicopter and cargo flights, a temperature-controlled crate, and constant lubrication and monitoring to prevent dehydration. His release is intended to support the survival of the world's rarest sea turtle species, while the zoo plans to establish a dedicated rescue centre for other cold-stunned turtles found off the Welsh coast.

Rare turtle Rhossi to be flown 5,000 miles home to Gulf of Mexico
Rhossi, a rare Kemp’s ridley sea turtle found near death on a Welsh beach in December 2023, has been rehabilitated by Anglesey Sea Zoo and is being flown about 5,000 miles back to the Gulf of Mexico. The journey involves a temperature-controlled crate, helicopter and cargo flights, extensive paperwork, and continuous lubrication and monitoring to prevent dehydration. The turtle grew from under 1kg to 21kg during rehabilitation, and conservationists hope his release will support the survival of the endangered species. The zoo is also planning a dedicated turtle rescue centre for future cold-stunned sea turtles found around the Welsh coast.

Police officer sues force over handling of fiancee's affair complaint
A former detective is seeking more than £343,000 in damages from North Wales Police, alleging the force mishandled his grievance after discovering his fiancée had affairs with colleagues and claiming this contributed to his development of complex PTSD. He argues the grievance manager appointed to his case was in a relationship with his fiancée at the time, though the court heard there is no evidence supporting this. The force maintains the relationship began years later and that it acted appropriately, while Fearon contends his request for an external force to handle the investigation was ignored. The civil trial continues into next week.
