Nine killed in strikes on Kyiv, as Ukraine sinks Russian ship
Russian ballistic missile strikes on Kyiv killed at least nine people and injured dozens, damaging residential buildings, causing fires and power cuts, and breaking windows at the Lithuanian embassy. The attacks followed a suspected Russian missile landing in Poland and came as Moscow intensified its air campaign against Ukraine. Separately, Ukrainian drones sank the Russian-owned container ship Yanina in the Black Sea; Rosatom said all 17 crew members were rescued and condemned the attack as piracy. President Volodymyr Zelensky is pressing the United States for permission to produce Patriot interceptor missiles, which Ukraine says are urgently needed to counter ballistic missiles, but President Donald Trump remains cautious about sharing the technology.
