Modern diesels attract concern because of complex emissions systems, although the Audi A6 Avant, Volvo XC90 and Maserati Ghibli receive qualified recommendations. Matt Cleevely instead favors a used Tesla Model Y. Jaguar Land Rover draws the strongest criticism over unreliable engines, suspension, charging and thermal-management faults, while BMW’s N47 diesel and wet-belt engines in some Ford, Citroën and Vauxhall models are also flagged as costly risks.
