Driver hit and killed man, 80, after her view was blocked by stuffed toys
Rosemarie Ozsko, 65, admitted causing the death of 80-year-old John Nottingham by careless driving after two stuffed toys hanging from her rear-view mirror significantly obstructed her view. She drove through traffic lights as they changed from amber to red and struck Nottingham, who died in hospital the following day. Leeds Crown Court gave Ozsko an eight-month prison sentence suspended for 12 months and disqualified her from driving for two years. West Yorkshire Police used the case to warn drivers to keep windscreens clear and avoid placing objects where they obstruct visibility.
