RAF Typhoons scrambled after Manchester-bound flight caused concern
Two RAF Typhoon jets were scrambled to escort Qatar Airways flight QR23 after it caused concern to UK civil authorities while approaching Manchester Airport from Doha. Unconfirmed aviation reports suggested air traffic controllers may have lost contact with the aircraft. The alert was stood down before the plane arrived, and it landed safely at 8:01pm without being met by emergency services.
