Dad tried to save his daughter on Fistral Beach before both were swept to their deaths
John Peter Collins, 66, and his daughter Samantha Adele Collins, 32, from Doncaster, drowned at Fistral Beach in Newquay on July 26 while fishing on rocks during a family holiday. An inquest heard that Samantha was dragged into the sea and John entered the water in an unsuccessful attempt to rescue her. Post-mortems recorded provisional causes of death as drowning, and a joint full inquest is scheduled for July 19, 2027. Police are seeking Samantha's orange or peach handbag, which may contain items of sentimental value.
