Rolf Denny defeated fellow Oakley player Steve Devonish 21-20 in the Open Singles at the Whitchurch and District Finals after Devonish recovered from a 16-6 deficit. Howard Park won the Triples, while Old Basing took the Fantastic Fives title. Andrew Carnegie won the Champion of Champion Singles for the third consecutive year. Several Whitchurch league divisions remain open, although Basingstoke Spades, Whitchurch Yellows, two Andover teams, Howard Park Kestrels and Oakley Kites held the leading positions. Basingstoke Town bowlers Anita Christian and Martin Cullis advanced to the last 32 of the National Mixed Pairs, while Christian remains one win away from the National Ladies Senior Singles. Other Basingstoke and Oakley players fell short in county triples and singles events. Local league updates show Basingstoke Spades, Whitchurch Yellows and Howard Park Kestrels maintaining top spots in their divisions, while Kingsclere ‘A’ and Burghfield ‘A’ lead their respective mixed triples leagues. Janie Vickers reached the semi‑finals of the County Two Bowls Singles before losing to Banister Park’s Charlie Crook. Other Basingstoke players, including Anita Christian and Adam White, were eliminated in the quarter-finals. Local league play saw Basingstoke Spades strengthen their lead in Division 1 of the Whitchurch Mixed League, while several divisions across mixed, triples and men’s competitions recorded tight standings and shifting leaders as teams positioned themselves for upcoming finals and potential promotions.
