Coventry City are continuing to strengthen Frank Lampard’s squad after committing more than £90 million in transfer fees. The club is reportedly close to signing 19-year-old Sidiki Cherif from Fenerbahçe for about £21 million, with a medical scheduled, while Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi is also undergoing a medical ahead of a potential £17 million move. Coventry are additionally exploring a loan deal for Chelsea defender Josh Acheampong, whose availability has reportedly changed. The activity comes before Coventry’s Premier League opener against Arsenal.

Coventry City have spent more than £90 million on summer transfers but remain active in the market. The club is reportedly interested in Chelsea defender Josh Acheampong after a change in stance from manager Xabi Alonso, while Fikayo Tomori, Sidiki Cherif, Jay Stansfield and Taylor Harwood-Bellis remain linked with possible moves. Coventry are competing with other clubs for several targets, although Cherif’s reported Premier League offer comes from an unidentified club. Tim Iroegbunam’s proposed move to Hull City appears to have collapsed because of a hamstring injury, and Harvey Broad has joined AFC Fylde on loan. Frank Lampard has also been praised by former teammate Florent Malouda for remaining at Coventry.
