Rupert Lowe sparks outrage with comments on Dunblane atrocity
Rupert Lowe drew widespread condemnation after wrongly claiming on a podcast that the Dunblane massacre involved only one murder, despite the deaths of sixteen children and a teacher. Politicians from multiple parties criticised his comments as insulting and historically inaccurate, highlighting the trauma experienced by the community and the significance of subsequent gun law reforms. The article recounts the events of the 1996 tragedy, reactions from Scottish Conservative and SNP representatives, and the legislative changes that followed, including handgun bans implemented by successive Conservative and Labour governments.
