A partial solar eclipse visible across the UK will obscure more than 90% of the Sun in many areas, with peak viewing times varying by postcode. The eclipse is expected to be strongest in Devon and Cornwall, while Cardiff should see 93.24% coverage at 7:13pm. Clear skies are forecast across much of England and Wales, although cloud may affect Scotland, Northern Ireland and parts of northern England. Experts warn that ordinary sunglasses are unsafe and recommend certified eclipse glasses, a solar telescope or indirect projection methods such as a colander. The event is expected to be the UK's best eclipse for 54 years, with the next comparable event in 2081.
