Horror as 55-year-old dies after dog bite as police make 'murder' arrest
A 55-year-old man died in hospital after allegedly being bitten by a German Shepherd during an altercation on a footpath in Calder Grove, Wakefield, on August 15, 2026. Police arrested another 55-year-old man on suspicion of murder and of owning a dangerously out-of-control dog that caused injury. The dog believed to be involved was seized. West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team is investigating and is appealing for two women who assisted the victim, as well as anyone who witnessed or heard the altercation, to come forward.
