Late cricket members remembered at Weston memorial match
A memorial cricket match at Weston-super-Mare Cricket Club brought together former players from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s to remember club members who had died. Sam Trego’s team defeated Andy Stewart’s XI, 269 for six to 187 all out, but participants emphasized friendship, memories and community over the result. Volunteers and supporters from Weston-super-Mare CC and Uphill Castle CC helped create a welcoming event, with a possible rematch discussed.

Weston AFC set to welcome Dover Athletic to Optima Stadium
Weston-super-Mare AFC will host Dover Athletic at the Optima Stadium on Saturday, August 22, aiming to preserve its unbeaten start to the season. Weston drew 0–0 at Torquay United in midweek, while Dover lost 1–0 to Tonbridge Angels. The teams drew 1–1 in their last meeting, although Dover won its previous visit to Somerset with a stoppage-time goal.

Weston CC hosted Taunton Deane in WEPL Premier 2 clash
Taunton Deane defeated Weston-super-Mare Cricket Club by 162 runs in a West of England Premier League Premier 2 match, scoring 279 for 9 before bowling Weston out for 117. Weston’s Charlie Cunningham took five wickets, while Ranitha Liyanarachichi top-scored with 30. The club’s second XI beat West Monkton by five wickets, led by Davis Trego’s 66, while the third XI lost to Temple Cloud by 95 runs. Weston’s fourth XI defeated Churchill by 62 runs after Andrew Marshall scored 103.
