Defibrillator returned in Great Yarmouth after vandalism
A public defibrillator at Peggotty Road Community Centre in Great Yarmouth has been returned to service after being repeatedly vandalised by young people who obtained the cabinet code. Jayne Biggs of Heart 2 Heart Norfolk temporarily removed the equipment and later changed the code. The defibrillator, originally funded by Nelson Ward councillors Michael Jeal and Kerry Robinson Payne, had been an important community resource for nine years.

Daniel Candon Named Tories' New Voice for Great Yarmouth
Daniel Candon has been appointed parliamentary spokesperson for the Great Yarmouth Conservatives, positioning him as a likely candidate at the next general election. A long-term Great Yarmouth resident, former offshore-sector worker and current Great Yarmouth Borough Council ward representative, Candon has also served as chief of staff to two MPs. Local Conservative chairman Carl Smith praised his knowledge of the area and commitment to residents, while Candon said he would promote a credible, fair and locally grounded conservative agenda while reaching out to voters who feel overlooked or uncertain about politics.

Work to clear Martham duck pond set to go ahead in weeks
Martham Parish Council plans to dredge and clear the village’s duck pond after residents raised concerns about litter, algae, dead wildlife and deteriorating banks. The Environment Agency has confirmed that a permit is not required, and the council is seeking to begin work in September once other agency permissions are secured. The pond’s condition has been worsened by algae blooms linked to warm weather, low water levels and high nutrient levels.
