Woman died after falling 87ft from top of Naze Tower
Cherry Box, 63, died after falling 87 feet from the top of Naze Tower during a day trip with her husband. Paramedics declared her dead at the scene, and a post-mortem identified multiple severe traumatic injuries as the provisional cause of death, pending toxicology results. The coroner adjourned the inquest for further investigation.

Colchester defendants sentenced for preparing for fuel theft
Paul Dupre, Warren Raphael and Anais Montague were convicted of going equipped for theft after police stopped their Ford Transit near Beaumont-cum-Moze in the early hours of February 2023 and found disc cutters, bolt croppers, fuel pumps and jerry cans. Dupre received a consecutive 10-month prison sentence, while Raphael was given an 18-month sentence suspended for 20 months and Montague a 10-week sentence suspended for six months. Both Raphael and Montague must complete court-ordered requirements, wear monitoring tags and pay costs.

Clacton motorcycle crash: Tributes pour in for beloved dad
Tributes, flowers, candles and a crucifix have been placed at a Clacton roundabout after biker Jayme Medcalf died in a motorcycle collision on Sunday. Essex Police said he was riding with a group of motorcyclists and appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.

Drink and drug driver who was stopped in Clacton banned
Billy Wray, 27, admitted drug-driving and possessing cannabis and cocaine after being stopped in Clacton on Christmas Day, as well as later drink-driving, driving without insurance and driving while disqualified in Bexleyheath. Magistrates sentenced him to 20 weeks in prison suspended for 18 months, imposed a five-year driving ban, and ordered rehabilitation work, unpaid work and 90 days of alcohol monitoring. He must also pay a victim surcharge and court costs.
