Gate at Queen's Hills park in Costessey to stay open for now
A gate installed across a pedestrian and cycle route at Fairway Park in Queen's Hills will remain open while ownership of the land transfers from South Norfolk Council to Costessey Town Council. The gate was intended to allow maintenance vehicles into the park without enabling car access, but residents have criticized its cost, appearance and obstruction of cyclists and people using mobility scooters. Costessey Town Council will decide whether to keep it open after the transfer, which was funded through a developer S106 contribution.

Cosmo in Norwich submits plans for new outdoor seating
Cosmo Authentic World Kitchen in Norwich has applied for a pavement licence to place three tables and six chairs under the canopy outside its London Street restaurant. The seating would serve customers waiting for tables or those drinking coffee, with no alcohol sales and reception staff monitoring the area. Norwich City Council's licensing committee will decide the application. The restaurant, which opened in 2015, recently underwent a six-week refurbishment that increased capacity to 320 diners and added upgraded food stations and new amenities.

Pensioner's Fury as First Bus Driver Refuses to Pull Over at Her Stop
A 79-year-old Norwich resident with mobility and breathing difficulties says a First Bus driver failed to stop near her home, forcing her to walk more than 500 yards and prompting her to spend £16 per trip on taxis. Another elderly resident reported similar difficulty reaching newly installed stops on Fiddlewood Road. First Bus said drivers had not been instructed to skip the existing shelter and would be reminded to use all stops. Norfolk County Council, which spent £18,000 on the additional stops, said they were intended as extras rather than replacements; the stops have also drawn concerns from neighbours about access for emergency vehicles.

Owner of Piccolos Speaks Out Following Hygiene Inspection
Piccolos owner Babak Ahmadi says the Norwich takeaway has permanently stopped using a dough mixer after Norwich City Council prohibited its use during a hygiene inspection. The business acknowledged that some cleaning procedures needed improvement, said corrective measures were already under way, and switched to ready-made Italian dough. Piccolos will not appeal the findings and plans to request a reinspection by the end of September.
