A man in his 30s is in critical condition after being assaulted by a group of six outside a takeaway on Park Road in Dingle, Liverpool. Merseyside Police arrested a 16-year-old from Wavertree and a 14-year-old from Dingle on suspicion of grievous bodily harm or wounding with intent. Officers are conducting CCTV and forensic inquiries and have appealed for witnesses, footage and information about those involved.

Ben Dooley, a 23-year-old sports psychology student, was one of four men killed when a black Cupra struck a lamppost on Liverpool Road in Huyton shortly before 2 a.m. on July 24. A fifth man, aged 27, was taken to hospital in stable condition. Dooley’s mother Kerry, sister Demi and friends remembered him as compassionate, kind and generous, and described the loss as devastating for his family and wider circle.
