Guernsey swimmer Orla Rabey broke her own 50m butterfly record and helped set a new island 4x100m freestyle relay record at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Guernsey’s relay team qualified seventh for the final and finished eighth, while Australia won gold. Rabey, competing at what she says will be her final Commonwealth Games, said she was proud to leave on a positive note. Other Guernsey swimmers also competed across individual and relay events.

Jersey swimmer Filip Nowacki enters the 2026 Commonwealth Games as the world junior breaststroke champion and fastest entrant in the 200m event, aiming to secure the island’s first medal since 1990. The 18-year-old emphasises confidence and strong training progress while focusing on gaining experience at his first major international championships. He recently became the first British swimmer to break one minute in all four strokes and has his long-term sights set on the 2028 Olympics with Team GB. The Games also offer him the chance to reconnect with former training partners, contributing to a positive team atmosphere.
