Man who died in jail after disorder was ‘strange’ after arrest, inquest hears
An inquest heard that Peter Lynch, who died by hanging in HMP Moorland in October 2024, had behaved oddly after his arrest for involvement in disorder outside an asylum seeker hotel. A custody sergeant described Lynch as confused and uncooperative but assessed him as fit for interview and did not refer him to mental health specialists. Medical evidence confirmed his death by hanging and indicated he had been dead for several hours before discovery. The inquest continues.
