Ceuta migrant arrests: 111 arrested by Morocco in latest border surge
Moroccan authorities arrested at least 111 people, including 109 sub-Saharan African migrants and two Moroccan nationals, amid fears of another mass crossing into Ceuta. Security forces imposed checkpoints, dispersed groups with tear gas and restricted journalists’ access, while Spain deployed more than 500 additional officers and built a maritime barrier. Around 5,000 migrants remain in Ceuta, where Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska said irregular entrants would generally be deported to Morocco. Migrants who crossed earlier warned others about the dangers and lack of prospects after arrival.
