East Riding of Yorkshire Council has warned people not to climb over barriers and use the severely deteriorated metal steps leading to Selwicks Bay near Flamborough Lighthouse. The steps were closed in June after inspections found structural problems caused by extensive use and corrosion, and the beach is temporarily inaccessible by land. Engineers and contractors are assessing a remedy, but the damage may require the stairway to be rebuilt, meaning the closure is expected to continue for some time.

Bridlington railway station has become known for its prize-winning floral displays, maintained for the past decade by Northern customer service assistant Andrew Loxton. He grows flowers, tropical plants, fruit and vegetables, often in his own time, continuing work started by former volunteer Chris Hanson. The displays have won awards, including Gold in the Railway Stations and Transport Hubs category at the Yorkshire in Bloom awards, and attract visitors and local residents. The Yorkshire Coast Community Rail Partnership now supports Loxton with funding, volunteers and donated plants.
