How a Non-Profit making Organization, Resilient Villages Zimbabwe (RVZ) is helping rural women in Zimbabwe secure their future
In this compelling segment, we hear directly from RVZ Director Jerald Ndungwani how the organisation is fronting sustainable community development projects. Operating in the Midlands, currently in Churumanzu District, their work involves a holistic approach to tackling complex issues of Climate Change. The projects focus on equipping rural communities, especially women, with organic farming skills, providing them with clean water sources via solar powered boreholes and protecting the environment.
Shurugwi is in the midst of a multi-million-dollar urban renewal drive aimed at expanding housing, modernising infrastructure, and transforming the town’s landscape. But beneath this progress lies a growing threat that is undoing years of development — illegal mining.
This video exposes how unchecked illegal mining is devastating newly developed residential areas in Shurugwi. From deep pits cutting across serviced stands to trenches tearing through tarred roads, storm-water drains, and sewer systems, illegal mining is posing serious safety risks and crippling housing projects meant to ease the town’s housing shortage.
