Leeds City Council refused planning permission for BP Land Ltd’s proposal to convert a vacant historic coach house off Back Lane in Drighlington into two homes and build five bungalows. Planning officers said the proposed development would harm the setting of nearby heritage assets, including Grade I-listed Lumb Hall, Grade II-listed Lumb House and the Old Vicarage. The application had been reduced from an earlier 12-home plan, but the council’s West Plans Panel concluded that the design and layout did not comply with planning policies.

Leeds City Council plans to auction the former Bentley Primary School site on Clipston Street in Meanwood after it has stood vacant since November 2018. Government protections preventing its sale without education secretary approval are due to expire in November 2026. Although no reserve price has yet been set and there is a risk the site may not sell, the council expects strong interest and hopes a new owner will refurbish or redevelop it for productive uses.
