Leeds City Council has approved a £500,000 investment to upgrade the council-run leisure centres in Pudsey and Rothwell. Pudsey will receive improvements to its changing rooms and swimming pool equipment, while Rothwell will get a refurbished crèche and a new dedicated studio. The investment, funded from the council’s capital budget, is intended to improve facilities, retain members, increase income and support future growth in leisure services.

Hillfern Development Ltd has applied to convert the fire-damaged former Mexborough Arms pub in Methley, Leeds, into two family homes. The building has been unused since a significant fire in 2015. Leeds City Council is consulting on the application, with officers saying the scheme could bring the brownfield site back into use, prevent further deterioration and preserve the building’s established appearance.
