Tewkesbury residents told to take in wheelie bins or face fines
A six‑month trial in Tewkesbury aims to reduce wheelie bins left on streets after the borough council identified persistent obstructions affecting the town centre’s appearance and accessibility. Support will be offered to residents, with fixed penalties used only if cooperation fails. The initiative follows a petition from the Tewkesbury Civic Society, whose chair expressed confidence in the scheme. Alternative waste storage options, including seagull‑proof sacks and smaller bins, will be provided, and early behavioural improvements have already been reported.
