BioLPG could cut London heating emissions without costly upgrades
Energy specialist Steve Ferguson of Jefferson Gas is urging the UK Government to provide stronger policy and investment support for BioLPG, a renewable alternative to conventional LPG. He argues that BioLPG can produce substantially fewer emissions and work with existing LPG boilers and infrastructure, making it a lower-cost option for off-grid homes, businesses and public sites than switching to heat pumps. Current production meets just over 1% of UK demand, but supporters believe investment could enable full replacement of fossil LPG by 2040 or sooner. The proposal is framed as a way to improve energy security and reduce exposure to supply disruptions while avoiding major costs for consumers.
