Hiker, 31, killed in savage Orlando alligator attack identified as more horror details emerge
A 31-year-old Orlando woman, Brittany Clark, was fatally attacked by an alligator while swimming during a hike in the Econlockhatchee River in Florida. Her boyfriend, Chance Allison, attempted to fight the alligator and free her, managing briefly before the animal grabbed her other arm. He performed CPR and called 911, but she died from her injuries en route to the hospital. Wildlife officials later captured and euthanized two large alligators from the area for DNA testing. Florida authorities noted that unprovoked attacks are rare, averaging eight annually with 26 recorded deaths since 1948.
