Former Argus director Courtney Mainwaring dies aged 91
Courtney Mainwaring, a former commercial and marketing director of the South Wales Argus, has died peacefully at his Hampshire home aged 91. Originally from Pontypridd, he moved to Gwent as a teenager and launched the Cwmbran Advertiser in his twenties before helping develop several free newspapers and joining the Argus, where he worked from 1974 to 1994. He retired at 60 after overseeing the newspaper during ownership changes involving the Daily Express and United Newspapers. A commemorative service is planned at Langstone Vale Crematorium, and he is survived by two children, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

'Twister' Seen Swirling Through Sky Near Resort in Wales

Former police station involved in riots up for auction

Tributes to Alan Meudell of Blackwood and Ystrad Mynach
