New drug for rare cancer could offer hope for hundreds
A new clinical trial is testing the immunotherapy drug CY‑101 for advanced adrenocortical carcinoma, a rare cancer with limited treatment options. The Phase 2 Clarity study, led by Cancer Research UK with support from Cytovation and the Norwegian Cancer Society, will evaluate safety and effectiveness across multiple UK sites and aims to enroll 41 patients. The drug is designed to stimulate immune response within tumors and counter resistance to immunotherapy. Patient testimony highlights the urgent need for better treatments due to severe side effects and limited efficacy of existing options. Early trial results from Phase 1 studies have been encouraging, and researchers express optimism about CY‑101’s potential to improve outcomes.
