Epsom salt is recommended as a supplementary lawn treatment for dry, yellow or patchy grass. Dissolving one tablespoon per litre of water and applying it in the morning or early evening may provide magnesium to support chlorophyll production, photosynthesis and root growth. The treatment should not replace fertiliser and should be used no more than once every six weeks, with most lawns needing only one application per season.
