Met Office issues rain update for Tuesday - but three UK regions still face drought
Rain and showers are forecast for Northern Ireland, Scotland, western England and Wales on Tuesday, but much of the Midlands, eastern England and especially the South East are expected to remain dry. England and Wales have experienced exceptionally low rainfall, with drought declared across half of England and all of Wales. Record heat, health alerts, poor agricultural yields, water shortages and wildfires are adding to the crisis, prompting the National Farmers’ Union to call for urgent action to protect domestic food production.
